How the Rats Have Scattered
RobLINK Still Stands After 10 Years

In this celebration of a decade of public service, where despite the best efforts by self-confessed haters of truth, no amount of denial, lies, or irrational hatred could censor my website or cause me any disturbance beyond having to deflect their harassment. My efforts remain strong while they have announced themselves to be the champions of failed methods, delusion, and dishonesty. Even practiced, well-educated fools are ultimately judged by reality, so it is only natural that their campus carnivals are forced to either take flight seeking fresh marks to swindle or invent new scams to play act at home.

With time, much has changed for the better:

  • A lying professor no longer bumbles through ethics classes or feigns knowledge relevant to computer science, but instead has resigned to bureaucracy.
  • Several people with no experience in politics and administration were burned by manipulative coworkers and wisely pulled back. It is important for academics to not think themselves experts in all fields because most are one trick ponies that are an embarrassment when they attempt to assert themselves beyond their limited range of knowledge.
  • A curtain was pulled back on administration dealings, showing the manipulators and their instruments of fraud.
  • Jeff Brandwine's decadent lifestyle brought him a deserved death - it could almost be called a suicide.
  • A variety of corrupt employees and trouble making professors eager to accuse others took sight of the ship they wrecked and fled elsewhere seeking personal gain and sanctuary.

From the first time professors and administrators came into contact with the new reality that free information could be made easily available, I was amazed by those who attempted futilely to control which categories of ideas and information was deemed "acceptable" or "appropriate" for public consideration. These dusty fools wanted to be the gatekeepers of communication so that no one ever expressed an idea critical of or contrary to their imagined utopia. These folks were the unwitting bringers of comedy and a great educational farce:

  • I was contacted requesting the removal of information that one or two people had complained about. The complainers had specifically sought out information on my web page for the purpose of reacting to it and were "offended" by the ideas expressed therein. These complaints were taken seriously even when fools sought the same information repeatedly so that the "infraction" of offending someone was repeated. Eventually the complaints bore no weight after my insistent refusals to censor material for the sake of idiots.
  • When creating a campus computing policy, a primary issue for administrators was the need to restrict students from voicing any of their own opinions on web sites, permitting only the discussion of topics directly related to class work. Presumably this would consist of having web sites where students diligently parrot their professors.
  • Strong opinions on any topic were considered offensive, especially those that were supported by a rational foundation. Apparently, only indecisive and ambiguous ideas are sanctioned because tired academics imagine a world of their own type, but in reality not all spirits are pacified or sleeping.

The desire to control information is a priestly instinct and requires priestly methods shared closely in administrative circles: contravention of reality, proscription of reasonable possibilities, construction of "sins", cultivation of cultish dynamics, and adherence to sacrosanct beliefs never subject to critique or reconsideration.

From high, mysterious pulpits, the controllers attempt to speak while permitting no commentary on their errors and nonsense. This has the interesting side-effect of convincing them of the illusion that others respect them and take them seriously. Perhaps it is only optimistic to think they could be helped by honest feedback to their delusional orders, even if that consists of mockery and overt demonstrations of disobedience. Though an academic theory might gain praise for being beautifully constructed and containing elegant intricacies, the entire structure must be cast aside when it fails to correspond to reality.

After a decade of ridiculous attacks from bitter censors and the poorly constituted, this site continues to stand strong while those who have attempted to snipe have only harmed themselves by dogmatic adherence to ill considered ideas. They have drifted from the triumphant path of rationality and exposed themselves as liars, frauds, and fools.

May the next decade reveal more of the same!
